How to Set Up a Strong Login Password in Windows 7?

To create a Windows 7 password, there must be a unprotected user account in Windows 7. Not have such a user account? Please create a one as follows at first.

Create a new use account

Step 1. Log in your Windows 7 as admin, and go to Start button -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety.
Step 2. Click "Add or Remove User Accounts" in the "User Accounts and Family Safety" category. A window titled "Choose the account you would like to change" appears.
Step 3. Click "Create a new account" under the list of user accounts.
Step 4. Type a name for the new user account, and then decide the type of the new user account: "standard user" or "administrator"
Step 5. Click the "Create Account" button. This creates the account and displays the user list again.

Add a password to the new user account

After creating the user account or if you already have a unprotected account, you can log in the user account and then add a password to it as below:
Step 1. Go to User Account window by clicking Start button -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts.
Step 2. Click "Create a password for your account."
Step 3. Type the password you want to use, type the password again confirm it and then type a hint for your password.
Step 4. Click "Create Password". Your User Account is now password protected.

Now you’ve step up a login password in your Windows 7 computer. You will be required to type the password at startup to gain access to the operating system.

Make your password strong

You can follow the rules listed below to create a strong password and make the password more secure.
1. Must be 8 characters long at least.
2. Should contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.
3. Don’t contain personal information in the password like a family name or family pet, phone number, house number, apt number, etc.
4. Do not contain a complete word in the password.
5. Do not use a password that you have used in the past.
6. Try to change the password at least every 3-6 months.
7. Should be easy-to-remember for yourself but hard-to-guess for others.

There’s a variety of methods to create a strong password that you can remember easily. And a great way to do this job is to use the things you like. You can pick up two numbers, the first 3 letters of two words (or the name of your favorite fruit) and one symbol that you like very much or feel interested in. Next choose an order and put them all together into one long string. For example, "6" and "8" (favorite numbers), "apple" and "orange" (favorite fruit), * (favorite symbol).
